All PLT hours agreed that we like the wording of the 4 rules found on the back of the planner.
Problem areas for bullying/other negative behavior: Areas where there are no cameras or difficult areas to adequately supervise. For example, the area on first floor by the elevators and drinking fountain, and the third floor restroom.
According to the OBQ administered last spring, the top areas where bullying occurred were:
1. Hallways
2. Lunchroom
3. Gym/ locker room
Erin and Rachelle will be meeting with the administrative team this week to discuss procedures for reporting and communicating about bullying incidents. Additional questions that were added to our list: Can Edmodo or Infinite campus beused to report/communicate? Who is the rubric for? Administrators or Teachers? We will report back in a future PLT session.
Based on the Youth Voice Project which surveyed over 13,000 students in grades 5-12, the following adult behaviors were perceived as being most helpful to those students who were bullied:
*Listened to me
*Checked in with me afterwards to see if the behavior had stopped
*Reminded me that it wasn’t my fault
*Told me to walk away
*Helped me to report
*Gave me advice (hope)
* Told me to pretend it didn’t bother me
